Does anyone else experience the Republican Senators as desperate? How many times are they going to point out, that Judge Sotomayor once said “a wise Latina” would be able to use her experiences to render better decisions than white male judges.” Is that all they have? She has made over 500 presentations and that is all they have?
Is there any truth to it? Considering the number of African Americans, Latinos, and poor in this country that come before judges on a daily basis, I absolutely believe her personal experience can provide a perspective that is desperately missing on the Supreme Court. But isn’t she supposed to only apply the rules of the law? Of course. She has and she will. 
But it is ridiculous to believe that any judge past or present does not depend on some personal filter as a way of understanding the case. This is not the same as saying they apply or they don’t apply the rule of law. For example, if a white suburban teen was caught by the police for underage drinking, it is possible a white judge may view that as “something all boys do,” and give him a more lenient sentence. However an African American fundamentalist Christian judge who doesn’t drink, may choose to have the kid serve the time allotted for underage drinking.
Arrest him for underage drinking?
As judge Sotomayor sits with her extended family and friends surrounding her and the predominately white Republican male Senators critique, shame, and judge her; they only prove her point. A wise Latina women would know better. She would be aware of how ignorant, insensitive, and cold it seems to see a panel of old white men talk down to a well educated Supreme Court Latina women. I hope those Senators aren’t counting on the Latino vote.
