I’m burned out today. I can’t play another game. I can’t read another book. I can’t break up another fight. I can ‘t drive to another class. I can’t wade through another family swim. I can’t give another time out. I can’t go through another negotiation around watching, “just one more show.”I can’t handle one more item on a “list.” I can’t handle one more bill that needs to be paid. I can’t handle the start and stop of five things at once. I can’t ask the kids to be gentle with the kitten. I don’t want to remind them one more time that the playroom is not one giant garbage can. I can’t endure one more set of wake ups before actually going to sleep. I’m tired and I need a nap. Do not disturb.

4WRD THNKN DAD- Is spending really the new savings? January 5, 2010I walked by this billboard for a bank, where you are presented with a pretty woman’s hazel eyes staring at just you. Above her is the caption, “Saving is the new Spending.” I wondered does this type of advertising really work? Do people start telling one another that they are saving more when just last [...]4wrdthnkndad
- Russell Peters, a comedian for the rest of the world January 1, 2010Over the holiday s, my nieces exposed me to “Russell Peters.” I had never heard of him and was somewhat reluctant to buy into the idea of an Indian comic. After seeing him, I realized how absent an Indian’s voice had been on the comedy scene. His keen sense of observation and amazing ability to impersonate [...]4wrdthnkndad
- “I’ amYour Mother!!!!” SNL sketch December 28, 2009My family likes to laugh. So, at some point during the holidays, it is inevitable that we will talk about Saturday Night Live characters. It has been happening for years. But now with youtube, hulu, and instant ipod viewings, we not only describe the episode, we show it. After viewing many scenes, I have picked [...]4wrdthnkndad
- How can a Catholic mass compete with Santa? December 24, 2009When my sister asked me if I was going to church for Christmas, I immediately said “no” There was a time in my life when the question would not have been asked because I would just go. I think the Catholic church was built on the expectation that people follow rules instead of questioning them. [...]4wrdthnkndad
- Krugman Advocates for Accepting Healthcare Legislation as is? December 18, 2009In today’s N Y Times, Paul Krugman argues for supporting the healthcare reform legislation in any form. He seems to believe that history suggests that it will be imperfect, yet it will continue to be tweaked and reworked over time, until it is more acceptable. He recognizes progressives anger about this watered down version. But [...]4wrdthnkndad
- Howard Dean in 2012? December 17, 2009So far, Howard Dean is the only politician willing to speak up and call out Obama and the Democrats for being wimps. He is calling for the Dems to scrap the current healthcare plan that appears to do nothing but insure that insurance companies get richer. Sure they can argue that 30 million people will [...]4wrdthnkndad

- Could Bikram Yoga Instructors call Horse Races? December 4, 2009So I was sitting in 105 degrees of heat taking a Bikram yoga class, when it hit me. The yoga instructor could have been a horse race announcer in another time.He spoke in a pace and at a speed that sounded very similar to the guy calling the races at the track. So as he [...]4wrdthnkndad
